SHAKEOUT Kick-Ass!!!

Shakeout began in 1992 when brothers Marty, Paul and Rich Scoulding got together with drummer Shane Hubbard in the Norwich area of the UK. The idea was to take the basic Rockabilly/Psychobilly template and add a touch of 1970's New-Wave, Skate-Punk, Brit-Pop, Ska and whatever else we liked at the time to try and be a little different from all the Demented Are Go copy cats that seemed to be springing up everywhere.

Shakeout gained a good reputation and played all over England with just about every decent band on the Rockin' scene - Meteors, Demented Are Go, Guana Batz, Long Tall Texans, King Kurt, Restless, Frenzy, Rattlers, Lost Souls, Caravans, Radium Cats, Frantic Flintstones - you name them, Shakeout played with them. Supports were also gained with leading 'alternative' acts like Theatre Of Hate, Gallon Drunk, Spear Of Destiny and the Flaming Stars.

Appearences were made in Europe at the Berlin Wild Cat Weekend and the French Apremont Festival but by 1998 the cracks had appeared. Fed up with promoters and labels who seemed to be unwilling to go with a band who didn't necessarily have the standard psycho 'look' of the time (though those that did support the band were fantastic!) they called it a day.

Spurned on by the resurgance in the popularity of Psychobilly the band talked about reforming and in June 2006 played their first show in eight years to a sold out crowd at the Marquee in Norwich. Old Pychobilly faces and an abundance of new Psychos, Punks and Skaters made it a night to remember and encouraged the band to keep it going.
