whats the rockabilly/psychobilly scene like in usa? or where you are from?

As New Zealand is small and poor Auckland seems to get smaller every day. The only interesting thing round New Zealand as far as pin up stuff old cars and awesome music goes is our very own "Beach hop"
once a year everyone who loves classic cars/hot rods, pin up culture and good old fashioned rockabilly goes for the four day event ....wish it was once a month!! sad thing is ...I'm not going this year!! :(

I've been to LA and Las Vegas, loved Las Vegas, but I'm all the way towards the east coast. It's very moutainous around here, the economy sucks shit and we do have our fair share of some real backwards people, especially in the more rural areas. I actually live in a suburban area and can be in Ohio or Kentucky in 10 minutes. I'm close to the downtown area and there are some good local clubs that bring in some good bands. Mainly hardrock/metal bands, but that's cool too.

Those Elvis Chapels are pretty cool. I started to put up as one of my songs today, "Suspicious Minds", still love that!

Well if you wanna check out loose Vag's LA is the place! The US has the best scene, its where rock and roll was born! Your missing out on so many great bands!

I moved from London, England to California expecting to see bands etc every night....sadly, its not so....

Once a MONTH if we are lucky, sometimes promoters will have 2 or 3 'big name' shows on the same night, in a small area, WTF? Theres barely enough of 'us' to go round as it is, let alone making us decide who to support!

Still, sounds like its a little better here than there~!

Well if your looking to hear rockabilly bands 7 nights a week, that isnt gonna happen anywhere... but to tell me there isnt live music 7 days a week in california, thats just retarded... there is numerious venues in baltimore that have live rock, punk, billy, etc... 7 nights a week.

I am also from a big Hick rural town of Bonham, Texas. Population 10,000, but if you dont count the prison then only 5,000. Dallas has a regular music scene. I mean you can hear live music every night. Now Billy music (rockabilly, Psychobilly, hellbilly, etc.) is a little bit harder to find. Normally once a week. Austin ( capital of Texas) is the Live Music Capital of The World, and pretty much any night you can see a show for sure, but in my experience I have not found a town that has Billy shows every night. Salt Lake City is very very dead. Only once a month can you see a billy show. I have been to Las Vegas several times and love the city, but not to big on Gambling. It seems like that is like the main thing you do there.

As far as my scene, It's me, myself and I so far. I'm planning on going up to Winston Salem for the Sasquach show in July, Hopefully we see whats what up there.

So far, Im here in a pretty lame area with alot of gangbangers and Posures. Time will tell if theres a scene up in the middle of the state.

I'm just new here so forgive me for draggin up an old topic haha, but YES I'm from Auckland too, I know exactly how you feel.... I assume you're talking about Bad Bride as the only band? Dick Dynamite plays in Auckland too sometimes, and I've heard of the Voodoo Kreepers (not sure if they gig anymore though..?).
It's way depressing. I wanna pack it in and go to LA for a bit too... I was planning on studying there for one or two semesters of uni but I don't think I can afford it now :(
