The Subculture Collective

I constantly get inundated with bands wanting to be on the show. The majority of them come to me via myspace, as I constantly get friend requests there from bands plus I listen to every one that sends a request. My policy is and always has been that if I am not going to play your music, I'm not going to add you. Doesn't make sense to me.

Anywho, there are a couple of bands that are always rather persistent in their quest to get on the show. One of them is the band below;

Whitiker Forest

Now, every time they have tried to add me, I just declined them. I never wrote to them and said their music stunk...just declined them.

So today I get this message in my inbox;

"just wondering whats the differenc between our band and the ton of other bands you accept... really lame stuff goin on here"

Really ?

So they are telling me they sound like Mad Sin ? Koffin Kats ? Los Duggans ? Hell I'll go so far as to say they don't even sound like the county music I play like The Pawn Shop Lifters.

Take a listen for yourself. Do they really sound like the bands played on the show? Am I missing something ?

I should be mad at you for making me listen too it.

Doesn't really jibe with anything else up here! Not making any derogatory statements about their music... obviously one person's treasure may be another person's trash! But I agree with ya Barry!

Don't sweat it -- if they think they fit on your show, then they obviously don't listen. I'm an advocate for variety, but they aren't even in the ballpark. And you didn't say it, but I will: If I'd heard them in 1992 I'd have said "they've got potential." Mind you I could only get 3 songs to play, so maybe those songs were from '92, but they were consistent enough for me to say they aren't something I'd want to hear on your show, or probably ever.

You're insane, they sound exactly like what you play... in your car, in the early 90s.

I loved it!!! No wait that was a wannabee Alice in Chains band I was listening too not your show. I am now owed 2 minutes of my life back thanks Barry. Don't feel bad for not playing that crap. I thought it was a joke at first when I went to their page. Amen to the 1992 comment TXpunk I hated it then and hate it more now.

Wow talk about being a decade too late for your sound. They don't belong anywhere near the show. Speaking of Pawn Shop Lifters, can you squeeze in Order up another sometime Barry?

Yeah they have no idea what your show is about at all. Just sad.

They don't sound like anything I want to hear on your show.

tell them you have a show coming up soon titled "Shitty wannabe rock bands that don't know what style of music the subculture collective plays on a regular basis" it might be a bit wordy for a show title but if you don't want to use it I will...

They absolutely DO NOT belong. They obviously have never listened to the show.
